When my daughter was younger and into trick or treating, there was one house we always stopped by.
Nope, they did not have the best candy.
They didn’t even have the most elaborate Halloween decor.
What they did have is the best Halloween spread – strictly for parents!
These people would set up a table at the top of their driveway and pile it high with nibbles for us adults who spent most of the night running after our trick or treating kids!
They would have hot chocolate, cupcakes, pigs in a blanket, chili dogs, loads of veggie crudités and hummus, and bowls of chips and RO*TEL® Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies instead of salsa.
This was my favorite house to stop by for Halloween – not only because of their spread for us adults. But because from back during my broke college days until now, I’d rather Dare to Dip into a bowl of RO*TEL® instead of salsa!

You can tailor the spiciness of this hummus to your taste. Want it mild? Then use RO*TEL® Mild Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies. Want it spice-a-licious? Then go with RO*TEL® Hot Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies.
I wanted this hummus not to be too spicy or too mild so I went with RO*TEL® Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies for a zesty kick of flavor.
My Favorite Tip When Making Hummus:
This dip is super easy to make. Just pile all the ingredients into a blender and in seconds you have a tasty dip ready.
One tip I picked up from Google when making hummus is to remove the chickpea skins before using them. Yes, it is a tiresome process. But I love the gloriously smooth texture of the resulting hummus.
Also, my daughter says that removing the chickpea skin (which is extremely fiber rich) causes her less gastrointestinal woes and volunteers to be my chickpea-skin-remover! Score!
So, for this recipe, I simply added in cans of RO*TEL®, garlic, oil, and cans of peeled chickpeas along with a smidge of salt and pepper and pressed a button!
If you can manage to not eat almost all of this dip from the blender, you could serve it up with some crunchy, Halloween-inspired, veggie crudités and spiders (plastic of course) for a zesty, better-for-you, Halloween appetizer.
