These Habanero Apple Mozzarella Scones have the perfect balance of spicy and sweet – all nestled together with creamy mozzarella for a delicious, unique scone recipe.

Would you agree with my assumption that the consumption of a whole habanero can only be the result of a dare?

Habanero Scones on a plate

I mean – these little chaps are SUPER SPI-SAY! I mean fingers-burning-even-when-you-DO-NOT-touch-the-seeds SPI-SAY!!!

Maybe the boy in this video (which I first saw at my church a few Sundays back) believed “life” indeed was “…a daring adventure”…or, maybe he just liked SUPER SPI-SAY…

Habanero, apple and mozzarella scones

Whatever his reasoning…I shy away from buying habaneros, let alone ingesting them in their unaltered form!

So when a fellow churchgoer handed me a sandwich baggie with a few of these chaps, carefully wrapped up in multiple layers of paper towels in it – I was dumbfounded!

They were so sweet in thinking of me…but, what was I to do with them?

These habaneros sat on my counter for a week…everytime I passed by them, I would scratch my head trying to rack my brain as to what to use them for…I thought of making chocolate habanero soup, but, I really do not need anymore reasons or ways to sneak chocolate into my diet…so after much head scratching… I figured…

And thats how these scones were born! As the Habanero packs a hefty spice punch (it is said to be 40 times spicier than a jalapeño GAAAAHHHH!!!!), I threw in some of the sweet Rome Beauty apples we picked and some gooey cheese to balance everything up.

And these scones were good! Even my daughter scoffed them down and continued scoffing even after I informed her of the ingredient list!

Have you ever been dared to eat something not so appetizing? I once ate a jalapeño on a dare!
Have you done it or passed? I had to pass when someone once dared me to eat a piece of gum from under a table in our classroom…
