Mystery Ingredient Green Shakes!

green shake - mystery ingredient

This past Friday my daughter and I went for an easy run on the Suwanee Creek Greenway, which happens to be a flat, quiet trail with a guarantee of a close encounter with some of the wildlife that live around it. It is a very, very scenic trail and if the endorphins don’t get you jazzed, the scenery surely will!

As we knew it was Food Truck Friday at the adjacent Suwanee Town Center Park, we planned on doing a quick walk through to see what trucks were there and then leaving -sparing the crowds which were gathering to enjoy food and music; from enjoying the aroma of our smelly, sweaty selves!

However – some plans are meant to be changed!

When we found out the local band that was scheduled to play was a favorite of ours, we decided to throw caution to the wind (and our sweaty, smelly, post run aromas too) and hang out – because, in my daughters words (which she “borrowed” off of Rookie Blue): “we were due-for a chill session”!

“The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us.”

-Ashley Montagu-

We hung out till darkness fell (by this time we were sweaty no more – however, I cannot say the same for the smelly part) and danced and bopped and goofy-grinned through Rupert’s Orchestra’s versions of “Billie Jean” and “Rolling in the Deep” and “Heya” and probably the best cover band rendition of “Thriller” I’ve heard!

All in all – we were definitely over-due for a carefree, fun, summer night!

Then when we got home we had these shakes – they are not any shake mind you! They are packed with an ingredient that isn’t usually found in green shakes – at least not the ones I seem to have come across so far.

Aaaaannnnd seeing this is August I figured I would see if y’all could guess the mystery ingredient in this shake – the ingredient that gives this shake it’s green color and packs a powerful protein punch. Along with it’s generous protein provisions, it’s also jam packed with fiber and vitamins C & K.

I have a couple of recipes on here using this nutrient powerhouse – one savory and one sweet – but neither in shake form.

I will post the full recipe when I reveal the mystery ingredient – but FYI – these shakes also had a cup of frozen grapes, 1.5 cups of almond milk, a dash of vanilla and cinnamon and half a banana, in addition to a cup of the mystery ingredient.

If you take a closer look, you might even see it…

So – did any of my clues help you figure out what the mystery ingredient might be?

Outdoor concerts are indeed the best - in Atlanta there are so many summer and fall festivals and events so I get my fill! xx

Celery? Also, I am going to start saying "due for a chill session" in casual conversation. LOVE it.
