Yesterday, the third day of the last week of the second month of 2015, was when I finally joined the 21st century; (at least, that's what my daughter said), when I came home with a Samsung Galaxy Avant Smartphone. You see, till yesterday, I was the proud owner of a candy-orange colored "feature" phone; also fondly referred to as a "dumb" phone, in some circles. Before, and even in the early days, of this little blog, I was quite content with my "feature" phone and 3rd generation iPod touch. Between the two of them, I was able to juggle texts and emails and whatnot - provided I had access to wifi. However, as my mobile phone contract with one of the giant mobile phone providers neared it's end, I began looking around to see what budget-friendly options were out there. And, that's how I stumbled on Walmart's Family Mobile Plans, which happen to be some of the Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans around - lower, in fact, than what I was paying for a Limited Talk and Text Plan!
Walmart's Family Mobile Unlimited Talk, Text & Date plans start at $29.88/month (for the first line) which includes up to 500MB of super-fast 4G LTE data. At this price, I am going to be saving almost $40 a month between my daughter and myself! Walmart also carries a wide array of budget friendly phones, including the ZTE Zinger, reduced to $19.84 (was $39.88).
At these low prices, I don't need to keep playing the lotto and hoping for a windfall to help absorb the cost of a smartphone with an unlimited talk, text & data plan!
Most years, while I save most of my tax refund; this year, I used part of it to pay for phones for my teen daughter and I.
I brought home my Samsung Galaxy Avant Smartphone and a Starter Kit and signed up for the $29.88 Walmart Family Mobile Unlimited Talk, Text & Data plan online. It was literally as easy as 1, 2, 3...
Being the head of a single income household, I have a tendency to be "frugal" or "cheap" as some people like to say - but, making budget friendly choices is very, very important for me. Heck, a year ago, I found myself sitting on the fence on whether I should invest in an efficient food processor/blender - well, guess what...I am still sitting on that fence! But with the money I will be saving, I am thinking this is the year to get off that fence and splurge on a food processor or blender!
So...(as I am nosy), I would love to know...are you happy with your Smartphone or would you rather have a "Feature" Phone?
Have you heard of Walmart's Family Mobile Unlimited Talk, Text and Data/Web plans?
