This sweet, spicy, tangy, and easy Strawberry Chutney is made with only 10 ingredients. It is a delicious condiment that pairs well with everything from toast to meats to charcuterie boards.

Ingredients

  • 10 strawberries (approximately 1.25 cups chopped)
  • 1/2 a red onion (approx 1 cup)
  • 2 tsp grated fresh ginger (2 teaspoons grated)
  • 2 tbsp. sweetener
  • 2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp salt (or more to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp pepper (or more to taste)
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp chili powder/ cayenne

Instructions

  • Peel and finely dice the onion and ginger.
  • Then, rinse the strawberries well. Discard any discolored parts. Chop off the stems. Then, dice the strawberries finely as well.
  • Add the oil to a medium-sized pan and place it over a stovetop set to medium heat.
  • Add the peeled and diced onion and ginger, and saute them for about 5 minutes, stirring often
  • Then, add in the strawberries, the spices, the zero-calorie sweetener, and the vinegar, and stir the mixture well.
  • Turn the stove to low heat.
  • Cover the pan with a lid and let this mixture simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the lid; the liquid in the pan should have reduced at this point. Stir the strawberry chutney well, and take the pan off the stove.
  • Let the strawberry chutney cool. Then, place the chutney in glass jars, secure their lids tightly, and store them in the refrigerator.
