Vegetarian Sloppy Joes With Beer

Cumin, coriander, and smoked paprika along with Warsteiner beer (or any other pilsner)make this chana dal sloppy joe dinner one heck of a filling and tasty one!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ red onion - chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic - smashed and chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper - chopped
  • 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes - drained well
  • ½ cup tomato paste
  • 1 ½ cups cooked chana dal
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder optional - adjust according to your taste
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¾ cup Warsteiner beer or any other pilsner beer
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Add onions and olive oil to a pan over medium heat and let onions cook - stirring frequently for about 12 minutes
  • Add in garlic and chopped green bell pepper and saute about 3 more minutes
  • Add in the drained diced tomatoes, tomato paste, cumin, coriander, chili, smoked paprika and stir
  • Pour in the beer and stir well.
  • Cover, lover flame/stove temp and let cook for about 10 more minutes
  • Add salt and pepper to taste and enjoy on Pepperidge Farm® Bakery Classics Sweet & Soft Slider Buns with avocadoes and/or sour cream
