These eight ingredients Teriyaki Chickpea Beet Burgers can be grilled or cooked on your stovetop for your upcoming Memorial Day or summer get-togethers

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup grated beets
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 cups chickpeas I used canned chickpeas
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 4 tablespoons Teriyaki Sauce I used Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cilantro optional
  • olive oil

Instructions

  • Drain and rinse off the chickpeas.
  • Peel the beets. Then grate them or chop them up roughly.
  • Place the beets, garlic, chickpeas, rolled oats, paprika, cumin, turmeric, Teriyaki Sauce, and cilantro in a food processor and pulse till well incorporated.
  • Then, using your hands, press, and form the mixture into balls, and flatten them into burgers. You can refrigerate these for a few hours or use them immediately.
  • If using immediately, you can grill the burgers for 4–5 minutes on each side or if cooking on the stove top, saute in olive oil for 4-5 minutes on each side on a low flame.
  • Serve on shredded lettuce bed with your favorite sauces.
