What does papaya taste like?
Ripe papaya is sweet and juicy. Its flesh is orange and succulent. And it tastes like a cross between a mango and a cantaloupe.
What parts of the papaya are edible?
The easiest way to get to the flesh of the papaya is to cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, and then scoop out the flesh. You can use a melon baller for pretty balls of papaya or chop up the flesh much like you would an avocado, and then scoop out the cut pieces.
The flesh of ripe papaya can be enjoyed raw in everything from fruit salads to smoothies such as this one.

What are the ingredients you need to make this Papaya Smoothie Recipe?
You will only need 3 ingredients to make this delicious mixture!
Papaya
Use fully ripe papaya for the sweetest smoothie. A ripe papaya has yellow-orange skin and soft flesh. If your papaya is still green, allow it to ripen at room temperature for several days. Unripened papaya will result in a bitter smoothie. If your ripened papaya isn’t too sweet, you can use some maple syrup or sweetener of your choice to sweeten up this smoothie. However, if your papaya is ripe, and you want to tone down the sweetness of your smoothie, you can use a small squeeze of lime juice or lemon juice.
Ginger
Fresh ginger gives this smoothie its signature flavor. Start with one teaspoon if you’re sensitive to spice and add more to taste.
Milk
Unsweetened almond milk creates a light smoothie, while coconut milk makes it richer and creamier.
