Green Tea Hazelnut Bites
I am a little shocked that these bites taste so good…
I mean – how can they??? They don’t have chocolate -in any form- in them!!!
No white chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate {GASP}…which doesn’t happen often in this little blog of mine (nor in my little home for that matter)!
What they do come packed with is a healthy dose of kombucha green tea, hazelnut meal and honey and a smattering of coconut oil, egg and coconut flour!
Totally delicious and Totally good for you …I came up with these when I got my first Recipe Redux assignment of “Cooking with Tea“. The Recipe Redux focuses on morphing delicious dishes into delicious AND healthy ones. I am so humbled to have been accepted into this group of Bloggers and so love their incentive to “inspire the food lover in every healthy eater and inspire the healthy eater in every food lover”!
I am not a big tea connoisseur, but I do love kombucha green tea …I first wanted to make green tea scones with white chocolate but then realized that white chocolate is not the healthiest one of its cousins – so, since most of my dark chocolate was used up in experimenting on Soup, I figured I would take a chance and go chocolate-free! The coconut flour was added in at the very last minute to make the dough more manageable.
These are not only healthy but -with 6 ingredients & 3 optional ones- they are super easy too! One bowl, one tray, one spoon, and one oven – gives new meaning to “one and done“! 🙂

I Googled “tea bites” and could not find any others…which lead me to wondering…
Have you baked with tea before?

Ingredients
For the bites
- 2 cups hazelnut meal
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup freshly brewed kombucha green tea I use 2 bags for one cup
- 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons coconut flour
Topping
- 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- In a bowl, add the hazelnut meal, honey, green tea, coconut oil and egg and mix well and then mix in the coconut flour
- Form into balls/bites (I made 10 out of this), flatten slightly and place on a parchment lined baking tray
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds
- Bake for 20 minutes
- Let cool for about 15 minutes and sprinkle with mixed up cinnamon and brown sugar (optional)

This couldn’t have come at a better time – I just got a load of green tea and have an urge to bake something with it so I’ve been hunting around for a while for things to try. Great idea Shashi – thanks for sharing!

These look so good! I LOVE tea… and I love what you said at the beginning! I hear ya… for me, dessert is best when it involves chocolate in some form! 🙂 But every once in a while, you find something that isn’t chocolate… but just as satisfying!! Looks like you found that recipe! YUM!

These look lovely Shashi! Perfect tea bites I think. I’ve done madeleines with tea and some fruit cakes, Tea works as a great flavour in baked goods, much like coffee and chocolate 🙂

These bites look mouthwatering Shashi! I am a big fan of green tea desserts and with the hazelnuts and coconut…oh boy, sounds like such an amazing combination. Luckily for me they are healthy too since I would surely want to eat the entire batch!:)

Easy, tasty, AND healthy?!? These have my name written all over them! Even if there’s no chocolate 😉 And I seriously love all the ingredients — I can just imagine how soft and pillowy they must be.
I’ve never baked with tea before, but I’ve made my oats in it if that counts 🙂
Oats in tea? Now I am intrigued? Milky tea or plain tea? guess both would work…
