Delicious, thick, sweet chili sauce.

This Sweet Chili Sauce is a favorite in our home. We love to dip air fryer chicken tenders into it, spoon it onto veggie patties, and smother it onto cast-iron baked potatoes and cabbage rolls. I've shared it with family and friends who seem to love it as much as my daughter and I do.

This sweet chili sauce is made with 5 ingredients you probably have lying around your kitchen such as:
• Honey / or maple syrup
• Garlic
• Tomato paste
• Red wine vinegar
• Chili flakes

& salt and pepper.

Usually, sweet chili sauce I've had in restaurants tends to be a bit thinner than what I have here. But, I like my sweet chili sauce a bit thicker so I opt not to use water in it. However, if you would like this tasty sauce to be a bit on the thinner side, then add in ¼ cup of water to the recipe below and simmer it for 4-5 minutes only.

Currently, stores seem to be running out of meat. However, I always manage to find a large stack of Beyond Meat's Beyond Burgers wherever I shop. We love Beyond Meat plant-based burgers no matter if we are enjoying them on platters like what you see here or in these quick and tasty pasta bowls.

Juicy Beyond Burgers with Sweet Chili Sauce

Now, I've partaken in quite a few plant-based burgers in my time, but, I cannot ever remember coming across one that was so meat-like!

When Beyond Meat says that their Beyond Burger is "so meat like it's sold in the meat case of over 7,000 grocery stores nationwide..." they aren't kidding!

Cooking Beyond Burgers

When plant-based Beyond Burgers are thawed out, their color and consistency is so similar to a beef patty.

Cook 'em up medium rare and, y'all, their middle stays red - just like a beef patty!

But that's not all. Beyond Burgers are juicy, with the chew and bounce of beef ~ and a hefty 20 grams of plant protein per patty! And, they don't contain any soy, gluten, or GMOs either!

Plant Based Burgers And Fries Platter

Last month, I whipped up a sweet and spicy beet onion jam to enjoy with pan-grilled Beyond Burgers.

This month, I decided to whip up a healthier sweet chili sauce to accompany them.

What is sweet chili sauce made of?

Made with honey, chili flakes, red wine vinegar, garlic and some tomato paste to balance out the sweet and spicy flavors, this sauce has us licking our plates! Don't forget to season it with a pinch or two of salt and pepper.

I simmered this sauce for quite a bit to reduce it down and make it thicker. But, if you would like a thinner sauce, add in a quarter cup of water to the mix. I usually double the ingredients to make a big batch that lasts about 3 - 4 days in the fridge.

What is sweet chili sauce used for?

As you can see from the images, this sweet chili sauce is quite thick. It is perfect for globing onto a grilled Beyond Burger, or swooping up with thick fries. Sometimes I saute up chicken with some sweet chili sauce and other times we even enjoy it like chutney and serve it up with curry and roti.

On some of our at-home movie nights, my daughter helps me put together a Burgers and Fries platter with pan-grilled Beyond Burgers, beet onion jam, sweet chili sauce, fries, pretzel buns, lettuce, onions and tomatoes.

As you can see, the resulting burgers are so tall ~ and so satisfying! After one of these burgers, we hardly ever get up to get more snacks to last us through the movie!

Can I have the balcony table? 🙂
