Easy Protein Banana Pudding
This Easy Protein Banana Pudding is a tasty, protein-packed spin on traditional banana pudding This high-protein banana pudding recipe is made with only 7 ingredients and is perfect for dessert or a snack.
I have partnered with Naked Nutrition on this post. All opinions herein are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog spinning.
My boyfriend loves banana pudding. So, well, a few months ago, I made him a dairy-free one. And, while he ate a good bit of that dairy-free option, he wasn’t too enthused by it.
So, I decided to try again.
Recently Naked Nutrition sent me a vanilla flavor and a chocolate flavor of their new Naked Goat protein powders. So, I figured I would use some of the Naked Goat Vanilla Protein Powder in a spin on a traditional banana pudding recipe for him.
Naked Goat Whey Protein Powder
Goat protein is a great option for people looking for an alternative to cow’s whey or plant-based protein powders. Sometimes, some people can’t produce enough enzymes to break down lactose, the primary sugar in cow’s milk. Goat whey protein has less lactose than cow whey, making it easier to digest for lactose-intolerant people. Goat whey also has smaller fat particles that are easier for your digestive system to process*.
Naked Goat whey protein is sourced from pasture-raised goats on small-herd Wisconsin dairies. Their processing helps you get clean protein loaded with essential amino acids and other beneficial nutrients and vitamins. Naked Goat is free of additives and artificial sweeteners.
Protein-packed banana pudding
This Protein Banana Pudding is so easy to make and it is a lovely blend of taste and texture. There are alternating layers of creamy, protein-packed banana pudding, firm fresh banana slices, and crisp vanilla wafers.
I must confess, that while this banana pudding is a protein-packed treat, it is more semi-healthy or healthy-ish than a healthy banana pudding. And, you will see why in the ingredients listed below.
What are the ingredients used to make this banana protein pudding?
You will need the following 7 simple ingredients:
- Naked Goat Whey Vanilla Protein Powder
- Sugar-free Instant Banana Cream Pudding Mix
- Unsweetened Almond milk
- Water
- Ripe banana
- Vanilla wafer cookies
- Whipped Topping
Substitutions
- I used an instant sugar-free banana cream protein mix. My boyfriend likes treats that are not overly sweet, and I feel the instant sugar-free pudding mix I used gave this banana pudding the perfect amount of sweetness. However, it can be substituted with your favorite banana flavor instant pudding mix, sugar-free vanilla pudding, or even a homemade custard.
- We usually have almond milk on hand, but you can use any milk of your choice to make this.
- I like to thin out the pudding with a tad bit of water, but you could use only milk and leave out the water.
- While I love the convenience of pre-made, store-bought, whipped topping, it can be substituted with some sweetened Greek Yogurt or sweetened blender-whipped cottage cheese. You could also make some whipped cream by whipping up some heavy cream or whipping cream.
Instructions
I cannot stress enough how easy this banana pudding recipe is to make. The prep time to make it is less than 10 minutes. The total time is about 4 hours and 10 minutes, as these banana puddings need to chill in the refrigerator so the wafers are slightly softened by the creamy banana pudding.
- Now, let’s start making these by gathering all your ingredients together.
- Then add the instant banana cream pudding mix to a medium bowl. Add in the Naked Goat Vanilla Protein Powder. Also, add the milk and (if using) the water and mix well until all ingredients are combined to a creamy consistency. I also like to add a generous dollop of whipped topping into this mixture and fold it in well.
- Slice up a banana.
And, now it’s time to assemble.
- Add a small scoop, or two, of the prepared protein-packed pudding mix into a glass serving dish or mason jar. I used little individual-serving-sized glass containers with airtight lids.
- Then, a layer of sliced bananas.
- Top the bananas with a layer of vanilla wafers. You could also crumble up your vanilla wafers and sprinkle the vanilla wafer crumbs in this layer. And the crumbled-up vanilla wafers might also be quite aesthetically pleasing. But, I knew these puddings were going to be in the fridge overnight, so I left the vanilla wafers intact.
- Repeat until the containers are full.
- After these are assembled, place them in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight. While they are in their airtight container, this protein banana pudding will be good for about 3 days.
My boyfriend enjoyed this protein banana pudding so much, that he ate all 3 of the single-servings I prepared. I guess the next time I make this recipe, I will use one large bowl instead of 3 individual-serving-sized ones!

I’m not a huge fan of protein powder on its own due to its aftertaste. But I think it works nicely in such a lovely desserts with bananas and cookies. I’d probably drizzle with a bit of Dulce de lech…because why not lol
