Tahini Free Hummus Dips
Ready to get your snack on? Well then, you’ve gotta give these delicious, filling and wholesome Tahini Free Hummus Dips, (made with chickpea juice or “aquafaba” instead of tahini) a try!
Imagine you are driving down the freeway (alternating between 5 mph and 20 mph due to the temperamental nature of the cars in front of you) and a spider pops up on your steering wheel – what do you do?
Do you pull over and try and squelch said spider?
Or, do you try to wrestle with it with one hand, while keeping your fingers crossed on the other that you don’t end up uniting your car with the one in front of you?
GAH, this was my conundrum yesterday morning in Atlanta traffic.
I wanted to sit there and ruminate on what I should do, but that super fast spider kept threatening to take a nose dive off the steering wheel, onto my person! And, while spiders don’t give me the hibbie jibbies when they are a brooms-reach away, this one was a tad bit too close for comfort!
Now let’s switch gears and imagine, you’ve been busy all day and totally forgot to have lunch.
You look up at the clock and it’s teetering on 3.30 pm and so you decide to just brave Atlanta traffic (again) and fix up a huge dinner when you get home…only, you open your front door and the hunger pangs hit ya like a wrecking ball on a rampage!
What do you do?
Nibble on some fruits and nuts?
Down several glasses of water as dinner will be ready within the hour (or so you hope)?
Or, do you spend 15 to 20 minutes whipping up a quick and easy and better for ya snack with veggies galore?
Well, seeing I do adore my veggies, I went with option 3.
Actually, to be totally honest, I had no clue what I was going to make for dinner and figured I could definitely do some serious snacking while I figured it out.
Fortunately, my daughter had grabbed more Farm Rich Potato Skins as well as a packet of Farm Rich Jalapeno Peppers the other night, when we had been grocery shopping at our local Walmart. So, I figured I would whip up some sort of dip to go with our stash of Farm Rich products.
As I never seem to remember to buy tahini, this Spinach and Avocado Hummus, and this Sundried Tomato Hummus, as well as this Rosemary and Garlic Hummus are all Tahini Free Hummus Dips.
They do contain some chickpea “juice” or aquafaba that seems to work well as a substitute.
I whipped up these dips in less time than it took the Potato Skins and Jalapeno Peppers to bake! And, my hunger pangs were extinguished like that super fast spider was once I managed to take off my shoe in traffic ~ definitely don’t recommend trying this!

Healthy and delicious..I love all 3 chickpea dips!
Thanks so much Angie!
That spider would scare me soo much! These dips on the other hand look so soothing ๐ I love the different flavor combos – perfect when I run out of tahini!
Yes – yes – no need for tahini when you have chickpea juice/brine on hand ๐
Thanks so much Megan – hope your week has been wonderful so far!
These dips look so good! I am pretty partial to the sun dried tomato dip!
Thanks so much Marye – that and the garlic/rosemary were my daughters favs! ๐
Haha! I am totally imagining you dancing around taking your shoe off in I-285 traffic. I’d be all like “what is that crazy lady doing over there!?” Hah! Just kidding…spiders on the steering wheel call for desperate measures! I love me some hummus, but I’m totally intrigued by this hummus dip made with chickpea water. Sounds pretty fun to me! And I’m a huge fan of potato skins…so this snack-for-dinner idea is definitely calling my name. Yum!
Hahaha – lol – David, can you imagine how badly traffic would back up from just those spider squelching shenanigans?! I think more and more people are moving down here and deciding to live on 85/ 285 because the traffic keeps getting more and more insane each year – but, only 3 more weeks of that long commute ๐

That’s funny you talking about spiders Shashi. This morning I wondered where our cat (Begbie) was, as he’s usually annoying me, but he was hunting down a spider in our kitchen. He’d practically taken the place apart!
Love your healthy dips! I’m pretty sure we could have a really good “dip” party together, with the ones off my blog too! ๐
Neil, I think I need to borrow your Begbie – clearly he’d keep my car spider free – better than my crazy dogs would!
Thanks so much by the way – and glad to see you and Lady Lynne back!
AQUAFABA!!!! hehe. love this so trying!
Thanks Lindsay! I so <3 you, my friend! Thanks again for the lesson on how to whip up aquafaba yesterday – I wish I had known that trick, because whipped aquafaba in these dips would have made them ultra creamy!
Hey girl – I’ve had run-ins with determined spiders like yours….GAH!!!! Thank God you didn’t get in an accident. I’m ok with spiders too, heck, I’ve birthed four kids, what’s a spider? But it’s the timing and “surprise” with which they arrive on the scene. I love all your creative chick pea dips. So yum. Perfect with these delicious stuffed peppers and tater skins! Deee-lish! Perfect dinner for me. Hope you’re having a great week, I feel a little nip in the air this morning in NH. Fall must be on its way. So sayonara summer, I’ll be missing you for sure. Have a great week Shashi! xo
Lol – birthing 4 kiddos makes me take my hat off to you – spiders are nothing in comparison!
BTW, Thanks so much for your kind words, sweet friend! Yes, it’s been a tad bit cooler here in the mornings too, by cooler I mean temps around 79 instead of 89 ๐ You have been in my thoughts this week as I hadn’t seen you post – hoping alls well with you and your family and this turns into a wonderful week for y’all too! xoxo
How yummy! Never even heard of aquafaba before. Will have to look for it. #client
Thanks so much Carolyn – aquafaba is technically the chickpea “juice” or brine that is there in packaged chick pea cans – sometimes it’s whipped up and used as a vegan substitute in making meringues and baked treats – too cool eh?
Ah that’s perfect! Making a dinner around HUMMUS!
Isn’t it though? ๐ Thanks Rebecca
Omigosh, that sounds so scary Shashi!!! Conundrum, indeed! I’m glad everything turned out just fine. Meanwhile, tahini-free hummus? Such a fascinating idea! I love that you generously provided us with not one, but THREE recipes! Every single flavors looks and sounds amazing. Super interesting that you used aquafaba for one of the flavors. Seriously though, looking at this entire spread of dips and treats is making me SO hungry. Save me a serving (or four), I’m comin’ over!
Thanks so much Demeter! I’ve been using aquafaba in quite a few of my hummus recipes – without knowing it was called “aquafaba” and was like a vegan’s dream answer to egg whites – yup, call me the ostrich with her head stuck in the sand! ๐
I’ll remake a new batch for you – so head on over anytime my friend! xoxo
Ummmm I HATE spiders, so I would have FREAKED out, put my car in park and ran around like a chicken with it’s head cut off… traffic and other cars be damned! Seriously there are SO many spiders here in NC and I feel like I’m always running around like that. ๐ Anyways, I think you know I absolute LOVE LOVE LOVE hummus, so I am swooning over these!! I’ve never tried hummus with aquafaba though! Can’t wait to try these flavors, Shashi! And HECK YES to Farm Rich snacks! This whole spread is my kinda dinner! Cheers, lovely! <3
Hahaha – Oh Cheyanne – now I have an image of you running around like a chicken in the middle of traffic!
I guess spiders must be a southern thing then? They have been everywhere recently {just like figs ๐ }
BTW, thanks so much for your sweet words, my friend! <3
Nice substitution with the aquafaba!! I’d love snacking on these hummus dips!
Thanks bunches Taylor!
Ok..so I don’t like spiders but I really like having 3 dips to choose from. I never use tahini in my hummus either so glad to see that you have not either. I could live on veggies and hummus. I also love putting hummus in my nutty salads as it gives them even one more added texture. Sharing!
Thanks so much Bobbi – I love your idea to add hummmus to nutty salads for even more texture – I’m so gonna have to try that!
Dont mind if I just stick my hand into each of these to try them all. I don’t need dippers. My fingers are the best dippers and just so so so mature and clean….? HAHA!
Nope, nope I don’t mind if you stick your mature and clean fingers right into these – though wait a minute – does that mean you think am gonna be sharing???? Duuuuuuudette! ๐
Wow! What a fun post, Shashi. Love all three colorful, healthy and delicious chickpea dips! I use tahini in my hummus but this time, I will be making without it. Thanks for such an awesome share. Can’t wait to try them all! ๐
OMG! I would’ve been freaking out over the spider, haha! These hummus dips look SO good, though! Using aquafaba was a great idea to replace the tahini. Love these! Such delicious flavors – the garlic rosemary is calling my name!
Hummus dips are always a favorite in my house! So easy and aquafaba is an excellent idea. I need to get on that soon. But bugs and spiders are not so fun! I once woke up to a tarantula in my bed. I was never the same after that experience.
Eeep!!! Spiders most definitely freak me out and I would not deal well with one on my steering wheel at all!
But these dips! I want all of them right now for a snack! lol
OMG, what a dilemma! Sounds like you handled it like a champ (and with some pretty fancy maneuvering)! I love playing around with different hummus varieties and all 3 of these look fabulous but the Spinach & Avocado one is really calling my name!
