  1. I’m totally new to tamarind but what an interesting paste! This is such a unique dish boasting with so many flavors, Shashi! I would love to try it.

Congrats on the new name! I’ve always liked Runnin Srilankan – it’s got such a catchy ring to it but I totally get how some people may have a difficult time looking it up. I’m super excited for you and can’t wait to see the new title 😀

    Toodles~

  2. Ah! So many thoughts and comments here, Shashi. First, Savory Spin? I love the new name! Good for you for jumping in there and coming up with a new name. I’ll miss Runnin Srilankan for sure, but I like the new name. And thanks for the heads up…I sure would have been confused on the 16th! Second, series finales. They stink…especially when you love the show! Whenever Laura and I watch a series finale, we like to make a dinner inspired by the show. It’s a fun way to bring the show from the tv into the kitchen. But then after the show, I always have this feeling of emptiness. Until I find the next show… Third, that date tamarind paste. I’m lucky enough to have tried it…and it’s da bomb! So I can see how this curry would be amazing. It’s cold and windy here today, and this looks like just the comfort food that the doctor ordered! 🙂

  3. First of all, I LOVE the new name! Really excited for you.

Secondly, I’m really excited for this recipe. I’ve never heard of a date curry, but I love both items so I know that’s something I need in mah belly!

  4. This looks sensational! Tofu has a reputation for being a little flavourless but with all of these tasty ingredients and that incredible sauce…this sounds packed full of incredible flavours!

  5. I was just in India and saw raw tamarind growing on trees! It’s so unique and quite sticky in its original pod. My husband also loves tamarind candy so I’m sure he’d like this recipe.
